The technique and method of making modified asphalt

The production of modified asphalt can use a blending method, can also adopt secondary blending method. The mixing method and the mixed method are suitable for a blending method; the precursor method is suitable for secondary blending method.

(1) The mixing method

a. the way applies to a variety of modified asphalt by mixing technique;

b. the way is that the modifier is added to hot asphalt, by mechanical mixing strongly, is mixed with asphalt at high temperature to make the modified asphalt having a desired content of the modifier. The finished products can be use in the production of modified asphalt mixture.

c. with making modified asphalt by the way, the mixing time, asphalt mixing time, temperature, and stirring speed should be determined by test.

(2) The mixed method

a. it should adopt the high shear device or colloid mill;

b. Modified asphalt mixing time, temperature, and other parameters should be based on the different asphalt, modifier and equipment capacity to set,

c. the modified asphalt should be used with the production at the construction site, when break time storage, should be transferred to storage with continuously mixing or pump cycle. During storage the modified asphalt can not reduce the effect.

(3) The precursor method

a. the way applies to a variety of modified asphalt matrix by mixing technique;

b. the content of  modifier should be appropriate in the modified asphalt matrix, should be ensured according to the technical requirements, past experience and equipment status.

c. according to the content of the modified of the modified asphalt matrix, the modified should be made to the modified asphalt having a desired content of the modifier.

d. modified asphalt matrix and modified asphalt should be uniform mixing, and blending temperature should be appropriate. The modified asphalt should be producted when needed. when break time storage, should be transferred to storage with continuously mixing or pump cycle.
